The family name Gorowski originated in Reisenburg, West Prussia (now Prabuty, Poland). This branch of the family emigrated to New Zealand in the 1880's and the spelling of the name changed to Groufsky at that time.

Anne's dad Norman MacKenzie (Clan) came from the isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides, Scotland   Her mum Susan Gay came from Glasgow, Scotland
